For the entire history of the Monon Railroad street running was a way of life down 5th Street in Lafayette, Indiana. President W. H. McDoel built an impressive limestone station in 1902 along 5th Street which served Monon Passengers for many years. During the relocation of the tracks during the 1980-90's, most of the tracks down 5th Street were removed. These spikes are ones that were at one time part of the right of way through downtown Lafayette.This is an actual spike removed from the old Monon 5th Street track at Lafayette, Indiana. 24K gold plated and packaged in an attractive heavy box that includes unique artwork.
