Eight songs from the 1948 Centennial Celebration.
Monon President John W. Barriger III promised New Albany the biggest shindig ever, with an hour-long parade, beauty queens from up and down the Monon, a singing quartet, other entertainers and a gleaming new passenger train. A group, known as the Mid-States 4 signed a one year contract with the Monon and took on the temporary name of the Monon Melody Men . These songs, written by John McGee were recorded in a four record, eight song 78rpm album that was handed out all along the line.
We have digitally cleaned up these songs and they are available on CD from the MRHTS, Inc.
